In order to be able to drive a vehicle that is not in your propety, someone must allow you to do so, in our case it is the employer or the employer of the work who chooses the procedure according to the legislation, usually by an order to drive, to carry out a business trip or to hand over the vehicle for use. He can choose another way, but always ask for permission, it’s not your vehicle. If you use your vehicle to perform work as an employee, you must also have the employer’s permission!

If I am not the employer or an employee authorized by him to carry out a business trip or other performance of work using a company (or even my own) vehicle:

My employer always sends me on a business trip or has to give me an order to drive. This also applies to passengers. In the same way, it is necessary to secure the agreement of the contractual suppliers with the contractor.

All items in the vehicle (tools, laptop, etc.) must be stored and secured so that in the event of a sudden change in driving direction, braking, impact, etc., they cannot injure the driver, passengers, bystanders or endanger the control of the vehicle.

You must be all right to use the vehicle. You must not combine alcohol, prohibited addictive substances and even pills that cause fatigue with the performance of work tasks, even in the car. Smoking in the car is permitted by the employer, in the presence of  non-smoker, you must never smoke in the car. You can only drive if you are rested, mentally and physically fit.

Rest is also related to the obligation to take breaks while driving. These are either recorded electronically (e.g. if you have a GPS system in your car) or in writing in the log book. A break of at least 30 minutes is mandatory after 4.5 hours of driving, or it can be divided into 2 x 15 minutes. These breaks are paid. A rest and food break can also be taken in this break. For employees, the maximum driving time (work shifts) is 12 hours.

There are two basic rules for calling the police in the event of an accident, an accident with estimated damage over CZK 100,000 or an injury. The condition that you must be the owner of the vehicle no longer applies, the driver is generally considered to be the owner of the vehicle (and therefore also has to pay fines for e.g. neglected technical condition). However, all professional servers recommend calling the police. Always take pictures and write down contact information for any witnesses.

The guy who broke into me immediately assured me that it was his fault, gave me his business card and was about to leave. How do I resolve the situation?

Surveys of driver behavior prove that a large amount of them do not stop in the event of a simulated traffic accident. If you were to proceed in this way, not only is your behavior unethical, but you also expose yourself to punishment. At the same time, solving the situation is not that complicated. Find out the situation, evaluate the risks that threaten you and the disabled. In the event of an accident, call 112, the operator will not only help you make further decisions, but will also send the necessary components of the integrated rescue system. Try to prevent massive bleeding by strangulating or packing the wound. Do not remove the victim from the vehicle if he is breathing. If he is not breathing, free him and try to start artificial respiration. Mouth-to-mouth breathing is used only by a professional. The rest of us perform indirect heart massage  by chest compressions.

Mandatory first aid kit equipment is determined by the type of vehicle. First aid kit category I is suitable for cars, vans and trucks. The first aid kit must be kept in a dry place and away from sunlight. The expiration date on the first aid kit packaging is irrelevant. Unopened remedies in the first aid kit are considered satisfactory even after expiration. Bandages and other material that is packaged to be sterile is recommended to be changed after unpacking.
